CREATE IN ME A CLEAN HEART O GOD,

1. O God, in your goodness, have mercy on me.
In Your compassion blot out all my sin
Cleanse me of my guilt and wash away all of my shame
My fault’s before me always; Against you alone I’ve sinned.

2. Wash me and cleanse me ‘till I’m whiter than snow
Let these bones You have crushed dance for joy
Create in me a clean heart; renew me with your Spirit
Don’t drive me from Your presence; don’t take your Spirit from me.

3. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, O my God
Give me strength and make me willing to obey
Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, O my God
Open my lips -- I will proclaim Your glory

4. My God, You are not pleased with sacrifice or holocaust
What you desire is my humbled heart
My sacrifice to You, a broken spirit, a contrite heart
My broken heart, O God, I place upon Your altar.
