I took a piece of fruit and it tasted so good
I thought I had no choice but to eat it
I made a mistake once and it felt so bad
I thought I was compelled to repeat it
And now I find my life’s become
a prodigal waste from the lack of love
Oh, I’ve been here before,
but I never learned my lesson
I’ve been here before,
but I never found the blessing
of sitting at the feet of my own life
and learning from the greatest Teacher of all.

I’ve realized I’m powerless to overcome
what I have said and all that I’ve done
There must be Someone who is greater than me
who’s able to restore my sanity
I’ve made a decision to overturn
my life to the One who can help me to learn
‘Cause I’ve been here before,
but I never learned my lesson
Oh, I’ve been here before,
but I never found the blessing
of sitting at the feet of my own life
and learning from the greatest Teacher of all.

We’ve fasted and we’ve prayed with our gloomy faces,
We’ve all known the pace of our winless races
Could it be when life falls apart at the seems
we get labor pains from wild and precious dreams?
This could this be the lesson we’ve been dreaming of:
the only sin is the failure to love
